Nifty Box - tagging for your mac
Keep web bookmarks, classify pictures, and annotate documents. Organize with tags and let Nifty Box show you related information. Browse your library and find without searching.

YOUR LIBRARY

Nifty Box is your personal library - You decide what you put into it. It's empty when you get it. Store your favourite web sites, interesting PDF documents, photos… whatever you like. Over time it grows into something very personal - an extension of your mind.

DISCOVER

Designed for browsing. Since you don’t want to waste your time searching, Nifty Box allows you to browse through your keywords at lightning speed. Nifty Box also enables you to discover relations between listed tags. It’s your digital word association game.

CLASSIFY

The best way to organize items in your library is to tag them. Every keyword coming to your mind to describe an item makes an excellent tag. In addition you can attach notes to an item very easily.

SPOTLIGHT INTEGRATION

Nifty Box can enhance Spotlight search on your Mac. The standard Spotlight search is great if you want to find information inside your documents or the meta data of your pictures. But it is tricky to add personal keywords to your files in order to optimize a Spotlight search. For this you can now use Nifty Box. When you tag an item in Nifty Box these tags are written to the file's Spotlight comment and ready for your future searches with Spotlight. Nifty Box also writes out your notes for Spotlight and you can even use Spotlight to find your tagged web bookmarks! Nifty Box just made Spotlight better.

FLEXIBLE VISUALIZATION

Tagging things is only one part of the game. With time the number of tags will grow quite vigorously and Nifty Box helps you to organize them efficiently: You can bundle tags into folders just like folders for playlists in iTunes. If you have tags for many bands but you want to see all items in your library that somehow belong to music, just put all those band tags in a Nifty Box folder called "music" and select that folder!

Nifty Box now features tag clouds and allows you to get a good impression of many tags at once. Those clouds visualize tags side by side and the font’s size indicates how many items are linked with a keyword. This way you quickly find the most important tags inside a folder. But you do not have to work with tag clouds: Nifty Box offers the traditional view as well, if you like lists better than a tag cloud visualisation - just select that option in Nifty Box and the visualization will be adapted.

EASY HANDLING

Importing items into Nifty Box is simple: Just drag & drop a web location or an file icon into Nifty Box and it is added to your library. Alternatively you can drop it on the dock icon or use the Nifty Box "Services" menu entry directly from any other application. Straight and easy.

The "item detail" pane allows you to enter notes, add and remove tags and to browse to one of the item’s others tags – simply click on the tag’s forward button. Just one way to start your association journey.
